Week 2

This week I experimented more with creating a Biped character. In the tutorial session we were shown how to create a basic body that could become our skin for the Biped.

This image shows the body which I created in the two hour tutorial. It is very basic at the moment and requires a lot more modelling. For my final model I may consider creating the body with a higher polygon count to allow for more definition.

Week 1

Introduction

For this module we are required to create a 3D character animation to portray an emotion or a characteristic. We will look at videos to observe the ways in which people can present different attitudes and emotions using there face and body.

To start with we have been asked to find three videos that present a different character, emotion or movement.

This video shows a string of idents used on BBC 3. Although the characters are very basic, they are still able to portray moods, expressions and movements. I am very interested in the way in which their mouths are modelled in sync with the dialogue.

This video shows some observational comedy. It was taken from an episode of 'The Office' where the staff were attending a team building exercise. The manager/boss (Ricky Gervais) displays and mimics hand signals and gestures displayed by the exercise leader to explain the task.

This section of film from 'i Robot' displays a range of emotions including intrigue, confusion and anger. There is one point in this video where the officer (Will Smith) winks at another character. The robot asks what the winking means and the officer replies "It's a sign of trust...".
